Frequently Asked Questions

How should I prepare for a mobile session?

Create your own in-home spa! Have a room cleared for a massage table to be set up with at least 3 feet of space around it. I require a stool or chair but otherwise provide everything required (table, sheets, oil etc.). You may light candles, turn on the diffuser and play your own music if you wish. Remove all distractions, silence your cell phone and ensure privacy for the duration of your session. Well behaved pets and outdoor spaces (during the warmer months) are welcome. Allow an additional 30 minutes for set-up and take-down. For example, if you have booked a 90 minute session at 2pm, I will arrive at 2pm, you will be on the table from 2:15-3:45pm, and I will leave by 4pm.

Are you registered in BC and can I claim my session?

A receipt can be provided for your session upon request, however cannot be claimed through most BC health care insurers. My schooling was completed in Alberta and I am not registered in BC.  Some insurers or employers provide 'health spending accounts', through which your session may be eligible for claiming.  This is different and separate from your standard medical benefits. Inquire with your insurer/employer directly.

How does payment work and is tipping expected?

Paying before your session is strongly encouraged so that you don't have to think about it after and can fully relax. You may tip at your own discretion. Tips are of course appreciated but not an expectation. Payment options include cash or e-transfer to massagewithkrystel@gmail.com.

What should I expect from my first session?

A short and easy health intake form must be filled out and we will spend a little extra time getting to know each other and your treatment goals to ensure a service that is best suited to your needs.

Do you help treat terminal or chronic illness?

I have experience with a wide range of chronic and auto-immune conditions. The process to recovery is generally gentler and slower as it can involve many years and layers of healing. I cannot legally diagnose or prescribe within my practice and massage is contraindicated for certain conditions. It is best to consult a doctor prior to treatment and reach out to me directly to discuss options. Ultimately, you are responsible for your own healing and I am simply here to guide, support and ease your symptoms.

Need to cancel or reschedule your session?

You can reschedule your own session up to 48 hours prior to its start time. Click 'Reschedule Appointnment' in your confirmation email. If the session must be rescheduled or cancelled within 48 hours of its start time, please contact me directly. Sessions cancelled within 48 hours are subject to a 50% charge.

What are your hours of operation?

Victoria studio (313-1095 McKenzie Ave, Victoria, BC), please reference the schedule here. Mobile availability varies and is based on your location. Please contact me directly to work out a day and time that works for you.

Can you accommodate group bookings and do you travel to hotels or B&Bs?

Yes! I am able to book up to 4 sessions in any, one location. This is a great way to celebrate and share in some self-care with a group of friends or family members. Contact me to arrange timing and discuss how I can help be a part of this special day.
